Serving as Editor-in-Chief, this is Stephen's third year working for The Griffins' Nest, joining as a reporter in Grade 10. As EIC, he oversees all aspects of the newspaper. He loves every part of The Nest, especially working with a wonderful team of reporters and editors. He is incredibly excited to uphold the excellent standards of journalism that The Nest is known for and to provide accountability for our public bodies. • Simone Hamilton (12) | Managing Editor

Simone is entering her second year with The Griffins’ Nest and couldn’t be happier to take on the role of an editor. Since joining The Nest, Simone has grown as a student, journalist, and person, and she hopes to share that experience with reporters. Simone’s favourite thing about The Nest is being given the agency and platform to research, learn, and report on complex issues.. The Griffins’ Nest is a great fit for Simone because of her love of writing (and talking). She feels privileged to be working with such incredible student journalists and the Hamber and Vancouver School District community.

  • Adelaide Guan (10) | Executive Editor

As the youngest editor at The Griffins’ Nest, Addie is thrilled to work with and learn from the bright minds at the newspaper. Her hobbies and interests include (but aren’t limited to) journalism, graphic design, the culinary arts, and soccer. The Nest is among the things Addie loves most, her favourite parts being the energy of distribution mornings and meeting new people through interviews. As an editor, she guides reporters throughout the news gathering, writing, and editing process. She hopes to spark interest in journalism in other students, as well as make a lasting impact on her community through the stories she tells.

  • Alanna Rudolph (12) | Executive Editor

Alanna will be serving as an Executive Editor in her third year with The Griffins’ Nest. Working with The Nest’s talented and dedicated team is what kindled her interest in journalism, and she’s excited to contribute to the paper’s reputation of quality student reporting. As part of her role, Alanna oversees and supports reporters through the writing and publishing processes. Besides the newspaper, she is active in her school community as a Peer Counsellor and a leader of many organizations, including Stem Sorority and Literature Club. Alanna is always eagerly anticipating the next issue, and she hopes to create impactful change within the Vancouver School District.

  • Teresa Chen (12) | Design & Layout Editor

Teresa is extremely excited to work alongside an amazing group of talented and hard-working individuals in her third year with The Griffins’ Nest. Her favourite part of The Nest is seeing readers race to complete the crossword in the Hamberger section every distribution morning. As Design & Layout Editor, she designs both print publications and Instagram posts. Her interests include STEM, reading, music, visual arts, and graphic design. At Hamber, she’s a part of Yearbook, Student Council, and Peer Counselling. Teresa is very proud to be part of The Nest and looks forward to making a lasting impact on the community.

Although she enjoys all aspects of the newspaper, she is especially passionate about student life reporting and VSB coverage. She also enjoys photojournalism for the Nest. Katja is passionate about technology, music, skiing, basketball, and travelling. She is also an avid baker who hopes to provide sustenance to fuel the Editorial Board’s ambitious projects. She looks forward to driving positive change in the community through the Nest’s investigative journalism.

  • Max von Dehn (11) | Executive Editor

Max is serving his first year as a member of The Griffins' Nest Editorial Board and looks forward to maintaining the standards and reputation of the paper. He joined The Nest in Grade 9 and has continued to improve his journalistic abilities since. Max hopes to further help Hamber's student journalists, and protect the rights of said journalists. Max's interests include journalism, music, the environment and law. He can't wait to help shape the future of The Nest.

  • Ellis Jackson (12) | Executive Editor

Ellis will be working as an Executive Editor in his second year at The Nest. He is extremely excited to continue The Nest’s good work informing and entertaining the students of his school. Ellis’s enjoyment of all things political is what inspired him to join The Nest in the first place. Outside the paper, Ellis is a member of Reach for the Top, Debate Club, and Literature Club. He is interested in reading, board games, video games, film, and history. Ellis is very happy to be working on The Nest’s Editorial Board this year!
