It's officially spooky season, and with that comes a big decision for Hamberites: what costume will they wear this year?
Although Halloween is on a Saturday this year, some students will be bringing the spooky spirit by wearing their costumes on Friday, both in groups and on their own.
“I think I’m going to be Batman,” shared Alejandra Gomes (9). She plans on wearing a duo costume with her friend for both trick-or-treating and a Halloween party. “[Pinterest] was my best friend while I [was planning] this,” said Gomes.
Gomes isn’t the only one doing a group costume. Linkin Chiu (10) plans on wearing a Ninjago-themed group costume for trick-or-treating with his friends, which he plans on purchasing at Spirit Halloween.
Another group of students, Lucy Kaplan (9), Ellie Lum (9), Leith Wainwright (9), Emmy Abramson Rogers (9), Malina Fane (9) and Madison Hennan (9), are planning a Care Bears-themed group costume with colour-coordinated pyjama sets and bear ears.
For her part, Ms. T. MacLeod (Physical Health Education) plans to wear her homemade Charlie Chaplin costume to school, bringing her bowler hat and putting on a Chaplin walk.
“I have a variety of different costumes and hats, and I’ve got a bowler hat [that I thought would] work with Charlie Chaplin,” she said, when asked about her inspiration for the costume.
Taking a more traditional approach, Jacob Kwok (8) plans on wearing a classic Halloween costume: a skeleton. Like Chiu, Kwok plans on buying his costume at Spirit Halloween this year.
Uma Bredeson (9) is bringing back the 1980s with her Killer Klowns From Outer Space-themed Shorty costume. The aggressive, yet lovable character sports neon green Liberty spikes and a yellow onesie, making it an iconic and memorable Halloween costume.
From superheroes to skeletons, Hamber students and staff have a variety of different costumes. They all have plenty of original inspiration, and they all show an unwavering Halloween spirit.
