After a stylish nine days, Paris Fashion Week (PFW) concluded, marking the end of most major Spring/Summer Ready-to-Wear 2027 fashion shows and showcases. The Paris shows followed the Milan and New York Fashion Weeks, each with their own visibly distinct trends and looks. Naturally, there were a plethora of trends spotted at PFW, varying across colour, cut, and overall theme.
As arguably the most obvious theme spotted at Paris Fashion Week, the majority of pieces showcased followed the business chic style. Although this trend appeared across collections from every fashion house, it was most prominent in the designs of Chloé, Schiaparelli, and Dior. Chloé layered lace undergarments with blush- and sand-coloured trench coats, while simultaneously showcasing angular suits with lingerie-inspired elements. Dior went for a more traditional look, keeping their suit cuts simple while still using patterns like tweed throughout their designs.
Another popular trend spotted on the runway was the 1970s hippie-folk revival pieces. Drawing inspiration from Woodstock-era fashion and folk icons like Michelle Phillips, Stevie Nicks, and Janis Joplin, many looks used flowing fabrics and bohemian patterns. Elie Saab’s À Fleur de Peau collection channelled ‘70s fashion in stylistic choices rather than through the way their garments looked, by styling their models to have voluminous, slightly-feathered hair, and adding oversized butterfly sunglasses — which are large square sunglasses with rounded edges — to complete the look. Meanwhile, Isabel Marant’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection showcased more traditional boho looks, with natural hues, beaded jewelry, and hippie-inspired belts.
Rich jewel tones were a prominent theme throughout the fashion shows, led predominantly by Vivienne Westwood’s signature eye-catching colour schemes and Saint Laurent’s line of gold-burnished pieces. Miu Miu also followed this trend by using colours like copper, garnet, and other deep shades of orange and red for earthier hues.
Timeless shades of pale yellow and off-white cream were also largely visible at PFW. The fashion houses that led this trend are mostly known for the sophisticated, quiet-luxury look, including Hermès, Dior, Schiaparelli, and Isabel Marant. Dior’s Spring/Summer 2027 colour palette consisted mainly of off-whites and other pale pastels, with butter yellow and soft beige as the leading shades.
High fashion is not the only highlight of Fashion Week — big-name celebrities made appearances at PFW shows, as well. Many notable attendees were spotted at the Louis Vuitton show on Oct. 6, with Zendaya in a ruffled white jacket and jeans, and Emma Stone in a saturated, Egyptian-blue skirt suit reminiscent of her similarly-coloured La La Land dress. Additionally, Clairo appeared at Valentino’s Antibiblioteca show in a strawberry-red pleated skirt suit, while Cynthia Erivo attended wearing a coffee-coloured fur coat and taupe sequined skirt with floral embroidery.
The next large-scale unisex runway event is Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, which is set to take place from Jan. 25 to Jan. 28, according to Fashion Week Online.
