After 14 months and 72 shows around the world, Sabrina Carpenter officially wrapped up her Short N’ Sweet tour in Los Angeles on Nov. 23. This tour was one of the most important and successful eras of her career. Carpenter’s album Short N’ Sweet contains a variety of hit songs like fan favourites: “Espresso,” “Please Please Please,” “Taste,” and many more. Most of the songs are about her dating and love experience, with the album debuting at number one on the US Billboard. Carpenter also released a deluxe version on Valentine’s Day, with hit songs like “Busy Woman,” which quickly became another fan favourite.
Grossing over $55.5 million and selling over 439,000 tickets, the tour was a substantial success for Carpenter’s career and was also her first sold-out arena tour. The show was one of a kind, featuring signature stunts like arresting someone in the crowd with fuzzy pink handcuffs and fan-named “Juno” positions. Her iconic bodysuits and outfits had also been custom-made for whichever city she was in. Carpenter’s tour was highly entertaining, as her sense of humour was included in the songs and the interactive stunts.
The entire concert was divided into three acts, each with its own mood, costume, and theme. Act 1 (titled Morning) opened with a pre-recorded video of Carpenter greeting the audience before she stepped onstage wearing a custom bodysuit, matching tights, and garter belts, and a shower towel to cover up her outfit and leave the audience in suspense. Carpenter kicked off each night by dropping her towel to reveal her bodysuit and perform the first song, “Taste.”
Act 2 (Evening), shifted into a sultrier, jazzier vibe, with Carpenter wearing a custom black lace catsuit, gloves, and crystal-covered Mary Jane heels. During this act, she performed her beloved surprise song segment, where she would spin a bottle to randomly pick which extra song she would perform that night.
Act 3 (Midnight) was the emotional peak of the show. Carpenter returned to the stage in a two-piece set with a long skirt to perform more vulnerable songs like “Dumb & Poetic.” She also did her “Juno segment,” interacting with fans before dropping her long skirt to reveal a shorter one underneath. During the song “Juno,” she performed one of her signature “Juno” poses, which the crowd often looked forward to.
Her farewell bodysuit on the final night of the tour was purple and pink ombré with the words “the end” written across in an old classic Hollywood movie font. She matched this bodysuit with a matching purple sleeve baby doll dress with tights that had read “cry because it’s over,” which many fans actually did. On the last show, Ms. Piggy attended the concert and got “arrested” by Carpenter. The last “Juno” pose was Carpenter running in slow-motion through a finish line, signifying that she had finally finished the tour. The final surprise song was “Goodbye,” a song from her latest album Man’s Best Friend. This made the ending of her tour more emotional for her long-term fans who have seen her evolve all these years. To end her tour with a farewell, she finished with the hit song “Espresso” with tears welling in her eyes and fans singing along word for word.
