Hamber’s First Provincial Win of the Year Captured by Senior Ultimate Team
On May 6, Eric Hamber’s Senior Ultimate Team defeated Burnaby North 15–5, capturing first place at the BC School Sports Provincial Championships. The win came after a season of perseverance, hard work, and focus from the team, who surmounted countless challenges to get the banner.
Senior Girls Badminton Team Places Fourth at Provincials for Second Consecutive Year
The Eric Hamber Senior Girls Badminton Team concluded its 2026 season with a fourth-place finish at the BC School Sports Badminton Provincial Championships, which were held in Burnaby from May 27–29. The result marks the team’s second consecutive year finishing fourth in the province, reinforcing their position amongst the province’s strongest secondary school badminton teams.
Girls Soccer Team Competes at Provincials for First Time
During this year’s spring sports season, Hamber’s Senior Girls soccer team advanced to the BC School Sports Provincial Championships for the first time in history. The tournament was held from May 28-30 in Kamloops, and the team placed 14th overall in the AAA category. The players advanced from Tier II to Tier I this season, which opened up the possibility of the team qualifying to play at provincials.
Spring Hockey Debuts at Hamber
Hamber’s spring hockey team has just finished its first-ever season in the BC High School Hockey League. The team capped off their run by reaching the semi-finals in Vancouver’s City Championships, and coaches and players say the team’s future looks promising.
Kicking Off the Spring Sports Season
With spring’s arrival, Hamber’s fields, courts, and tracks have come to life. Less than two months remain before summer break, and the spring sports season is in full swing. Fifteen teams are competing this season, and Hamber’s athletes are looking to build on their progress and make the most of the experience.
Hamber Twins Triumph In Speed Skating At The BC Winter Games
From Feb. 26 to Mar. 1, Rosy and Victoria Hogan, two identical twins from Hamber, attended the 2026 Trail-Rossland BC Winter Games. Competing as speed skaters representing Special Olympics BC, Rosy and Victoria were awarded five medals apiece; Rosy won four silver medals and one bronze, and Victoria won one silver medal and four bronze medals.
Hamber's Successful Run in Fall Sports
This fall, Hamber dominated the high school sports scene, participating in a total of 13 sports in one season and reigning victorious in many.

After hard-fought games, plenty of team bonding, and dozens of wins and losses, Hamber athletics put on quite a show this winter season. Enthusiasm from fans and players alike drove athletes in basketball, girls ice hockey, table tennis, and wrestling to success.
OPINION | Dear BCSS: Don’t Cancel High School Gymnastics
BC School Sports (BCSS) has raised a motion to remove gymnastics as a high school sport, citing operational costs and relatively small numbers of participating athletes. One line of reasoning is that gymnastics has become more of a community-based sport, rather than a school-based sport.
Hamber’s Basketball Teams Place Second and Third during Midtown
Hamber’s 12th annual basketball tournament, Midtown Showdown, occurred over three days from Jan. 19-21. Eric Hamber’s Senior Girls and Boys basketball teams, in addition to seven boys and seven girls teams across the Lower Mainland, played in the tournament. With 16 teams participating in total, the number of teams participating doubled compared to last year.

Students are excited to cheer on Hamber’s volleyball, cross country, girls field hockey, aquatics, and boys’ soccer teams as they kickstart their fall season.
