Death Toll in Turkish and Syrian Earthquake Hits 50,000

The tremors were the deadliest quakes in Turkey since an earthquake in ancient Antioch in 526 and the deadliest in Syria since an 1822 earthquake in Aleppo. By Feb. 28, the death toll had surpassed 50,000 in the two nations.

Transgender Rights Reforms in Scotland Blocked by British Veto
Dec. 22 of last year saw the passing of the Gender Recognition Reform Bill in the Scottish Parliament, which would streamline the process for trans people to change their legally recognised gender.
