Most students are probably familiar with Eric Hamber’s classic Grad events, like grad pancake breakfast after prom and GQ day. Recently however, a new senior tradition has emerged, filled with alliances, betrayal, and very strategic planning and execution.
GSA Unveils New LGBTQ+ Mural
The Gender-Sexuality Alliance (GSA) is one of many clubs offered by Hamber, and is dedicated to providing a safe, positive place for LGBTQ+ students and allies to hang out. Recently, the GSA has been working on a mural next to the third floor staircase, and students passing by the colourful letters and flowing rainbow might be wondering about the purpose behind it.
VSB Board of Trustees Closes Its Doors to the Public
On Apr. 3, former Vancouver School Board (VSB) Trustee Ruth Herman arrived at the VSB Education Centre with the intention of attending a Special Board/Committee of the Whole Meeting. She was faced with locked doors and was told the meeting could only be viewed online.
Students Brace Themselves for AP Exams
This year, Hamber offered a selection of AP courses and exams in subject areas such as psychology, physics, statistics, and literature. Administered from May 1 to May 12, AP courses provide university level educational opportunities and credits for students who are looking to further their education before completing high school.

The Return of Grade 8 Camp
Grade 8 Camp has returned after a two year hiatus. The camp will be held at Stillwood Camp on May 24, and will be attended by approximately 245 grade 8s, 23 Peer Counsellors, and 20 teachers.
