The Timetable Tango: Behind the Scenes of Hamber’s Annual Course Change Lineups
At the beginning of every school year, students line up for hours on end, waiting to speak with their grade counsellor. By patiently staying in line, they hope to make changes to their timetables, which have been automatically assigned by the school’s scheduling algorithm.
New School Opening Delayed
Though the new school is on track to be completed February 2024, students and teachers will no longer move into the new building at the beginning of second semester. The big move will be delayed until the 2024-2025 school year, according to a recent parent newsletter and message to staff.
Meet Hamber's New Vice Principals
This year, Hamber welcomes two new vice principals, Ms. N. Gates (Administration) and Mr. A. Maclnnes (Administration). Both have previously been teachers, while Ms. Gates has also been a counsellor.

The Future of FIT
For the past two school years, schools in the Vancouver School District have switched to a new schedule known as the semester system. One of the most noticeable changes with the semester system is the introduction of flexible instructional time (FIT). Hamber Girls’ Soccer Team Wins City Championships
The Hamber Girls’ Soccer team won the City Championships on May 25. Led by Ms. J. Polukoshko (English), the Soccer team played an undefeated season that culminated in a grueling final match against John Oliver Secondary.
